Moving in Barcelona at the end of the month
A few days ago we read in the ABC newspaper a news item about The absurd tradition that caused chaos during May 1 in New York, and although it is difficult to believe 200 years ago in New York every May 1 the contracts of those tenants who lived in a rented house ended at the same time and as an inevitable consequence on that date an incessant procession of cars was generated full of objects to carry out hundreds of moving services in a very short period of time.
That custom baptized May 1 as “Moving Day”, or “Moving Day” as we would call it here, and it turned out to be a completely unproductive custom that over time has not only disappeared but can seem implausible to us.
Well, nothing could be further from the truth, nowadays we continue to live small “Moving Days” in Barcelona at the end of the month, since we find ourselves with the same paradigm of the end of rental contracts on the same date. This makes it more difficult to find help moving to Barcelona on the last 3 days of each month.
According to our data , the activity of moving companies has increased by between 30% and 50% more during the last week of the month. This mismatch in demand causes companies to collapse in the last days of the month and often cannot meet the demand of their customers.
In some cases, the less fortunate, due to the high demand, the client is forced to hire the moving service with a second or third option because the removal company with which they initially wanted to hire the service is not available. Therefore, we recommend that you move to Barcelona without stress by hiring in advance and if possible avoiding the last days that coincide with the end of all rental contracts.
To avoid falling on “Moving Day” we recommend both our customers and the rest of the users of the moving service that, if it is in their hands, they bring forward or delay their move so as not to fall in the last days of the month, and if it is not possible that they at least contact the moving company in advance to be able to specify some conditions and dates with enough time.
