Transfer of the Museum of the Port of Tarragona to its temporary exhibition in Tinglado 2
Since September 11, 2020, the Museum of the Port of Tarragona can be visited in the provisional facilities of Tinglado 2. Due to improvement works to modernise the museum and the intention of giving a new vision of the world of navigation, it was decided to temporarily move the current exhibition. Facility improvement works are currently underway, all in order to be able to open the new museum as soon as possible.
Transfer
The move to the provisional facilities was carried out in the months of February and March 2020, where our company participated as responsible for the movement of a large part of the exhibited pieces. Thanks to the trust placed in us, we were in charge of both the packaging, transport and subsequent unpacking and placement of models, replicas of ships, historical documents, and even an old fire engine. All this under the watchful eye of the museum staff, who, in a coordinated manner, found a way to give a second turn, a second vision, to the pieces that were on display until now.
Packaging and additional services
To protect the pieces during the transfer, all kinds of packaging adapted to each of the works were made and they were moved in special vehicles adapted for the transport service of works of art. As required by a project of this category, a nail-by-nail insurance was also contracted to cover any damage in all phases of the transfer.
As a complement to the service, we also take care of the dismantling, transfer and assembly of the display cases, giving agility to the project and facilitating coordination for the placement according to the new museum project.
The Museum as a visitor
Now, as visitors, we can admire how the Museum of the Port of Tarragona looks again, with a renewed exhibition that takes us into the world of the sea and its history. A visit recommended by all sailing lovers and for those who want to know more about the history of our Mediterranean Sea.
In addition, this project has allowed us to meet very competent people who have given us a new vision, for which we are very grateful to all the museum staff and for which we wish them a lot of success in this renewed exhibition.
